Samsung has started rolling out its latest version of the Android
interface, One UI 6.1. This update aims at older devices, especially the Galaxy
S23 and S23 FE lineup. The new software is also reaching out to Z Fold5, Z
Flip5, and both the 5G and Wi-Fi versions of the Tab S9.
Recently, an article from 9to5Google revealed that some smartphone users
are running into trouble after updating their phones to One UI 6.1.
Specifically, owners of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5 have
started reporting on Samsung community forums that their phones are charging
much slower, up to 40% slower, since the update. They've noticed that their
phones now charge at only 15W, which is significantly slower than the original
25W charging speed these models usually have.
In another report from SamMobile, a news site that focuses on such
topics, tests were carried out on the Samsung Galaxy S23. These tests found
that the phone's charging speed had dropped to 20 watts, showing that not all
Samsung phones are equally affected by this issue after the update.
Additionally, some device users have taken to Reddit to share that after
updating to One UI 6.1, their phones started to overheat. There were even
reports of phones getting extremely hot, even when not in use.
Despite these problems, it is expected that Samsung will act quickly to
fix these issues with a new update. The Houhou Informatics Blog promises to
keep readers informed about any progress or new information regarding this
situation.
